“Happy Feet”
James Langton and the Solid Senders. James created the Solid Senders Orchestra bringing together the most talented of contemporary British Big Band musicians to recreate the work of Artie Shaw as part of a Master’s degree. His project led him to the States in search of original music scores, and ultimately to live performance where the emphasis was on absolute accuracy of period style. The band’s club dates acquired a cult following leading on to prestigious concert performances at venues such as The Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. The band also records for TV and Film soundtracks.
“Keep Young & Beautiful”
James sings his arrangement made for HBO’s "The Gathering Storm"
“Night & Day”
for BBC TV's "Dr Terrible’s House of Horrible"
Since settling in the USA in 2002, James has continued to lead the Solid Senders Orchestra. The unique excitement of their Big Band concerts has been further heightened in recent performances by recreating the Artie Shaw Orchestra with Strings from the original arrangements.

“King Porter Stomp”

His various orchestras have played arrangements recreated from the original scores and also from James’ own transcriptions from recordings.
James Langton continues to perform with his Swing Orchestras, as well as researching and writing on the Swing Era and its music. He has collaborated often, researching, writing commissioned music, performing concerts and special events and writing articles and essays. He brings not only his knowledge and experience but also passion, commitment and perfectionism to each project.
